The battle for Delta Central ahead of the 2027 general elections has entered a new phase, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) launching an aggressive grassroots mobilisation drive aimed at sweeping all elective positions in the district.
The renewed push gathered momentum on Sunday as Senator Ede Dafinone took his consultation campaign to Ethiope West and Sapele Local Government Areas, where party leaders openly declared their readiness to deliver an unprecedented “six-over-six” victory for the APC.
The consultations brought together political heavyweights, local government leaders, former lawmakers, serving political appointees and grassroots supporters, with a common message: unity, mobilisation and total victory for APC in 2027.
In Ethiope West, APC Local Government Chairman, Hon. Clement Okorodide, described Dafinone’s visit as a major political mobilisation ahead of the elections.
He assured the senator that the party structure in the local government was intact and prepared for the 2027 contest.
Former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Halims Agoda, raised the political stakes, declaring that Ethiope West would be among the strongest APC voting blocs in Delta State.
Agoda said the party was already positioning itself for victory, expressing confidence that APC leaders would have cause to return to the area for a thanksgiving after the elections.
He also commended Dafinone for his performance in the Senate, particularly his legislative interventions and constituency projects.
The Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Ejiro Etasherure, warned APC members against allowing personal differences to undermine the party’s chances.
His message was blunt: Ethiope West must deliver six-over-six.
Former federal lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Ben Igbakpa, also called for unity, stressing that Ethiope West had historically demonstrated considerable political strength whenever its leaders and people acted together.
Igbakpa praised Dafinone for taking his consultation directly to the people and for what he described as his humble approach to representation.
Former Ethiope West council chairman, Chief Wilson Omene, urged party leaders to subordinate individual ambitions to the larger interest of the APC.
According to him, victory in 2027 would require collective effort, discipline and a united political front.
‘Dafinone Is A Sapele Boy’
The political temperature rose further in Sapele, where former Delta State PDP Chairman, Chief Kingsley Esiso, who is now an APC leader, threw his weight behind Dafinone and the party’s 2027 campaign.
Esiso described Dafinone as a “Sapele boy”, insisting that the people of Sapele had a special responsibility to support one of their own.
He declared that the message from the political leadership was clear — APC must secure victory across the ballot.
“We are in Sapele and this is Sapele. Our leaders have spoken. What they have said is simply that all of us must vote for APC six over six,” Esiso declared.
The former PDP chairman also fired a mobilisation warning to APC political appointees and leaders, urging them to return to the grassroots and work for the success of the party.
He said appointments must translate into political value for the APC at the polling units.
Esiso equally praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as visible infrastructural development across Delta State.
Dafinone: APC Will Win All
Responding to the massive show of support, Dafinone expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious across all elective positions being contested by the party in 2027.
The senator declared:
“All the positions of the All Progressives Congress will be successful in the election come 2027. Six over six.”
Dafinone also described Governor Oborevwori as a “capacity and working governor,” signalling his continued political alignment with the governor ahead of the 2027 elections.
On the economic hardship confronting Nigerians, the senator appealed for patience with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He argued that the reforms being implemented by the Federal Government were necessary to reposition the economy for sustainable growth.
But Dafinone made it clear that APC’s 2027 campaign could not be restricted to existing party members.
He charged party leaders and supporters to take the campaign to every community, ward and polling unit, engage undecided voters and persuade Nigerians outside the APC to join the party’s fold.
The Sapele meeting, held at the Local Government Council Secretariat, attracted the Delta Central APC Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki; member representing Sapele Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Perkins Umukoro; and other prominent party leaders and stakeholders.
With the consultations now moving through the senatorial district, APC leaders are positioning the “six-over-six” slogan as the central battle cry of their 2027 campaign — setting the stage for a fierce electoral contest in Delta Central.
